Florida offers its Food Stamp Program through a broader government agency known as the Florida Department of Children and Families. FL food stamps were established to assist low-income households in the state towards the purchase of food to maintain a nutritious diet. As a result of a Food Stamp Programs state-run status, each state has its own unique requirements and application process. For an individual to receive FL food stamps the following list of requirements must be fulfilled:

Proof of Identity: an applicant, to receive FL food stamps must show proof of identity.

Work Requirements: applicants between the ages of 18-50 who aren't disabled must work at least 20 hours a week to be eligible to receive FL food stamps.

Individuals who are unemployed or participating in a workfare program are only eligible to receive FL food stamps for three months every three year period.

Net Income Requirements: The applicant's household monthly net income must be less than 100% of the federal poverty guidelines. For a family of 4, this number equates to roughly $22,00. The net income requirements for FL food stamps does not apply if an individual in the household is 60 or older or disabled.

Residency and Citizenship Requirements: An applicant must live in the state of Florida. In addition, the applicant must also be a United States citizen or a qualified non-citizen.

Social Security Requirement: The applicant must provide a Social Security Number or proof of an active SSN.

Asset Requirement: The applicant must have less than $2,000 in assets, excluding a home or car worth less than $8,500.
